FISHING World caught up with cricket great Brett Lee over the weekend to check out his flash new Edgewater boat and throw a few lures at Sydney’s resident kingfish.
The legendary fast bowler was joined by best mate and boat co-owner, well-known NSW cricketer, Dom Thornely. Also on board was Lee’s son Preston, nephew Ricky, and Edgewater Boats importer Josh Batterson.
Lee describes fishing as a great way to unwind from the pressures of professional sport. But like any great sportsman, that competitive nature is hard to shake. As I found out on Saturday, both fellas are accomplished fishos and good company on the water. Lee and Thornely fished hard in windy conditions with Lee coming up trumps, pulling a rat king from one of the Harbour’s marker buoys.
The boat, an Edgewater 228 powered by a 250hp E-TEC, is Lee’s passage to the great fishing on offer around Sydney. As he says in the video below, the Edgewater is a versatile boat for fishing and a safe spacious boat for family boating.
Stay tuned for an upcoming issue of Fishing World magazine for the complete Brett Lee profile.
