QUEENSLAND based recreational fish tagging and fisheries citizen science monitoring program Suntag has revealed an impressive dusky flathead recapture.

Angler Brendon Knight has recaptured a dusky flathead he initially tagged – not once, but twice! The fish was at liberty for about a month or two before the first recapture, back in June, growing about one centimetre.

Brendon recaptured the same flathead this week measuring 68 centimetres, reporting a successful release when, about an hour later, he caught the same fish again! Not surprisingly, Brendon said the fish “fought like a wet rag the second time”, but couldn’t believe it was feeding again within the hour.
