THE Glenbawn Dam Classic is a low-key father and son fishing competition organised by the friends and family of Michael Webb, a keen angler who tragically passed away from bowel cancer.
The second annual running of the event to honour Michael’s and his 10-year-old son Mason’s love for fishing was held last month and attracted over 50 work mates, family and friends to Glenbawn Dam in the NSW Hunter Valley.
Along with the Senior and Junior prizes for the heaviest bass caught, various father and son activities and races were held over the weekend and a great time was reportedly had by all.
All ages were represented at the event with Michael Webb’s father Peter the oldest competitor at 74 years of age and the youngest was a keen young fisho aged six.
Fishing World donated a number of prizes for the event including fishing shirts.
The main prize winners were:
- Heaviest Bass Senior: Kurt Everingham 1.2 kg bass
- Junior Award: Jacob Ellicott 2.4 kg carp
Other awards:
- Winner Father & Son boat race: Mason Webb with his uncle Wal
- Best Boat : Barney Griffiths age 12
- Catching a live carp in a tub of water: Mackey Skinner.
