Jewie steals show at bream comp

AN angler competing in yesterday’s BETS bream round at St George’s Basin on the NSW south coast got more than he bargained for.

Damien Skeen from team Dean’s Tackle & Outdoors (based at Windang, deansfishing.com.au) caught this 16kg jewie on an FG blade while competing in the event at the Basin on Sunday. The fish reportedly took Skeen an hour to land on 6lb line.

The event saw a total of 69 teams competing in the fifth BETS round of the year, which was taken out by team Pflueger/Evinrude of Alan Loftus and Ross Cannizzaro.
