According to an article on the ABC website, unlucky-in-love Ryan Sperrer is currently less interested in the love of a woman than he is in reacquainting himself with some of the Territory’s best fishing spots.

In a Facebook post published last week, Mr Sperrer offered an “expensive engagement ring” in exchange for a boat. He ABC’s ‘Tales From The Tinny’ that it all happened after the woman he thought was “the one” ended up becoming the one that got away (you can listen to the interview HERE).

“We got engaged about five years ago but things went a bit sour and pear-shaped and we’ve broken up since,” he said.

“I just had this engagement ring sitting in my parents’ safe, so I thought what use is that to me when I want a toy?

“I’ve got to pay the house off and I can’t afford a toy, so why not make some use out of it?”

Mr Sperrer decided to tackle the problem by posting a note on the Darwin NT Buy, Sell, Swap & Wanted Facebook page.

“I just wanted to have a shout-out to see if any guys out there had a small crabbing boat or a tinny, something between about $5,000 and $10,000,” he said. “As long as I’m on the water.”

“And if they want to be silly enough to get engaged then to give me a holler.”

Mr Sperrer said he had received quite a few bites since publishing the post but was yet to actually land a boat – but he was prepared to be patient and wait for the right deal to surface.
