Christmas came early last year for young Sydney-based angler Ben Morgan (27) of South Curl Curl.
Morgan reportedly set out around 9pm a few days before Christmas to target jewfish from one of Sydney’s northern beaches. After identifying a suitable gutter and casting out a live poddy mullet on his trusty 6.5″ Alvey outfit Morgan soon found himself attached to a big jewfish.
Around 20minutes later the lucky (and very tired) angler found himself realising a fishing dream when the 145cm jewie materialised from the surf, 200 metres from where it was initially hooked.
The jewfish, believed to be one of the biggest caught from the area for some time certainly made Ben Morgan’s Christmas.
