KEEN lure fishers and collectors will be descending on Queensland’s Ipswich Showground this weekend for the Australian Lure & Fly Expo.
Event organiser Garry Fitzgerald told Fisho the event which began in 2012 at Fernvale has gone from strength to strength. With its shift to the all-weather Exhibition Centre at the Ipswich Showground, Fitzgerald is expecting a big turnout for the 2014 event.
“We are pretty excited about the event. There are lots of things going on. We have about eighty exhibitors this year,” he told Fisho.
The Expo will see lure makers attending from South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Queensland and will feature highly knowledgable lure collector Frank Prokop and Dave “The barefoot fisherman” Hodge, amongst others.
Visitors will be able to view casting shootouts, fly tie-offs as well as learn how to make their own lures and flies.
Lure collectors will also be able to drool over collections of old, rare, collectable Aussie made lures from Newell, McFeeters, RGM, StumpJumper, Deception, Eric Moller and many more. (See video from 2012 Expo below)
