Malaysian sails

FISHO online editor MickFletoridis was recently invited by the guys at Shimano to head overto Rompin in Malaysia to experience the region’s amazing sailfishaction.

Mick was part of an Aussie contingentfrom Shimano and the Compleat Angler tackle chain. We’ll publish afull report on the trip in an upcoming edition of the Fishoe-newsletter but wanted to give you a sneak peek of the action viathese images Mick sent through this morning. It seems the gun tacticin Rompin is to baitfish for the sails with live squid. “If you puta live squid in the water, you’ll get a sail,” Mick reports.

Notwithstanding the effectiveness ofbait, Mick hooked a sail on a Squidgy soft plastic and also had a tryfor one on fly – inclement weather conditioned unfortunatelystymied his efforts with the long wand. All up, the tally for thetrip was 130 sailfish – sounds like pretty amazing fishing action.Stay tuned for more!
