ONE of the most family friendly freshwater fishing events in Queensland is back on in 2012, at picturesque Lake Moondarra, 15 kilometres North of Mount Isa. The annual Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic promises a weekend jam packed with fun and excitement for all.
Hosted by the Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group the Fishing Classic raises funds for restocking local impoundments for recreational and environmental purposes.
The activities of the 2012 Xstrata Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic will kick off on the evening of Thursday October 25th with the special guest slide show featuring Creek to Coast’s Scott Hillier, followed by all the action at the lake from 12 noon Friday 26th; fishing action from 6pm.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday 28th with the first ever “Barra ‘n’ Beatz” luncheon featuring delectable local barramundi, live entertainment, great children activities, special guest appearances and bar facilities; followed by the awards presentation and the drawing of the Mount Isa Fish Stocking Groups 2012 Boat Raffle.
The 2012 Fishing Classic has a record prize pool in 2012, including a whopping $50,000 up for grabs for the lucky angler who snags the Mount Isa Water Board Tagged Barra, over 30 prize categories and an enormous line up of entertainment.
