National Rec Fishing Conference on Gold Coast

THE National Recreational Fishing Conference “Casting Towards Tomorrow, Keeping Australia Fishing” will be held on QLD’s Gold Coast from 17-19 August.

One of the most significant events on this year’s Australian rec fishing calendar, this conference will provide a forum where discussions can take place to chart a course for a vibrant future for recreational fishing in Australia.

The NRFC is a joint venture between Recfish Australia and the Australian Fishing Trade Association. The event will feature presentations from keynote speakers within the rec fishing industry and experts from Australia and overseas who will provide insight into some of the issues and opportunities we face.

Delegates will also be involved in practical and interesting workshops throughout the event, to share information, learn and become better anglers. The conference will form part of a full week of events and activities relating to recreational fishing, including a fishing tournament pro-am and trade show, all in one place.

Conference sessions and workshops of the conference will focus on the future of recreational fishing in Australia. A key outcome of the conference will be the identification of three national projects that will take recreational fishing forward. These outcomes will be established through the direct involvement of attending delegates via hands on workshops and technical sessions that will form an integral part of the conference. Speakers will include Martin Salter (pictured), author of the report Keep Australia Fishing.

The recreational fishing community will be kept up to date with final outcomes achieved through publication of regular updates.

Anyone involved in recreational fishing who would like to be involved in charting the future of recreational fishing in Australia will get a lot out of attending this landmark national event. If you are an angler, guide or charter boat operator, are involved in the retail or wholesale of fishing tackle, boats or boating equipment, or represent government departments, industry or environmental organisations with an interest in fishing then you will benefit from becoming involved in the National Recreational Fishing Conference.
