Squid fishing, or “Egiing” as the Japanese refer to it, is becoming increasingly popular. Due to demand Nitro Rods has released its own Egi rod – the Custom Squid.
The Custom Squid is an 8ft two-piece rod designed to cast 1.8 to 4.0 size squid jigs long distances, courtesy of a fast action slim profiled blank, constructed from Torayca carbon fibre.
The Custom Squid features Fuji Alconite Low Rider sloped-frame guides and Ultra-Light sloped tip section guides, which are designed to eliminate line-fouling that can occur when working a jig. The reel seat and EVA handles are Fuji and are of the unitary contoured-form type for improved comfort.
The rod’s fast action is not only designed to cast jigs maximum distances, but to also ensure rod impulses are transmitted to the jig at extreme range and depth – an effect harder to achieve with slower-actioned rods.
