AN estimated $2.195 billion was spent on recreational fishing trips in 2017-18, resulting in combined direct and indirect economic output in excess $3.42 billion.
This is one of the key findings of the 2018 Performance Data and Insights report recently released by the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
The report also quantifies other performance figures relevent to recreational fishing, such as:
- Licence numbers and revenue
- Estimated catch (and release rates)
- Most commonly caught species (commercia and recreational)
- Charter boat revenue and participation
