The NSW public’s chance to have a say in the management of the state’s fisheries closes this Friday.
With the current Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 2002 under review and due for repeal on 1 September 2010, the proposed Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 2010 and Regulatory Impact Statement was made available by the NSW government for public comment from 2 June.
Of note is that contained within the 330 page document is a proposed commercial fishing ban on striped marlin within NSW waters – see Fisho’s previous story here.
The proposed Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 2010 and Regulatory Impact Statement (‘RIS’) are available for download at: www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/aboutus/about/legislation-www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/aboutus/about/legislation-acts/review or by phoning (02) 9527 8506.
Submissions close at 5pm this Friday 2 July 2010. Written submissions on the proposed Regulation will be accepted by mail, fax or email.
