SHIMANO’S Raider Yak rods are designed by rod builder extraordinaire Ian Miller, specifically for the growing number of Aussie kayak fishers.
The four rods are of single piece construction, covering line weights from ultra light for estuary and impoundments, through to something beefier for snapper, kings and mackerel along the coast.
Quality fittings — Fuji reel seats and Sea Guide zirconium ring guides — are used across the range and the blanks are full graphite finished in an attractive two-tone metallic blue. The EVA butt and foregrips are well shaped and nice and grippy even when wet, which they will be most of the time when you’re practically sitting in the water!
They have shortish butts to make them easier to cast from a sitting position, and medium actions to overcome the dangers of “high sticking” as a fish draws near. The rods’ lengths are the maximum workable from the confines of a kayak or canoe.
Additionally, you also get a Yak Leash and Yak Keeper to prevent that favourite outfit from becoming an expensive splash while travelling, or dealing with a fish at the end of the fight.
