Rise Fly Fishing Film Festival set to kick off

NOW in its eigth year, the Rise Fly Fishing Film Festival hits Australian cinemas next week.

The Rise festival explores the diverse world of fly fishing and showcases the best adventure fly fishing films of 2013 in a big screen extravaganza.

Rise organiser and film maker Nick Reygaert says the the mission of the festival is to inspire audiences with epic adventures, strong stories and big fish in pristine environments.

This year’s festival will screen the following films:

Leviathan
Gin-Clear Media’s Leviathan is the feature film of the festival and the follow-up to the highly acclaimed Predator. For humankind, water is the source of eternal wonder, so too the creatures that dwell within this mysterious realm. The lure of the unknown is what drives fly fishers to explore and to seek out the largest fish of a species, not for the trophy but for the challenge. Leviathan documents epic fly fishing battles with these modern-day aquatic monsters in a global tour-de-force. See trailer for more.

Other films to screen at this year’s festival include: Only The River Knows
A mix of fiction and documentary, the film reflects man’s tendency to mistake dream for reality. The story unfolds by the legendary Lethe River on New Zealand’s wild and wondrous South Island.

Jungle Fish: Follow three expert fishermen as they undertake on a two-week voyage deep into the heart of Guyana’s rainforest. Their mission: to demonstrate that the arapaima can be caught with a fly rod.

Blackwater Devil’s Gold: For producer Grant Wiswell, fly fishing has always been about exploration. A few years back he had the opportunity to travel to the Bolivian jungle to fish and film – Devil’s Gold which garnered industry-wide awards and acclaim. Wiswell couldn’t shake the itch to return. The allure of the wild and beautiful Golden Dorado drew him back for a return trip.
