A ROCK fisherman has drowned while fishing off rocks near Manly on Sydney’s northern beaches.
The 40-year-old man was found in water off North Head by marine police about 9.30pm last night. The fisherman’s wife had reportedly raised the alarm an hour earlier which set off an air and sea search.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald the man had been fishing on his own off the rocks at Blue Fish Point, near the northern mouth of Sydney Harbour. He was wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) when pulled on board a water police boat.
Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and a formal identification has been conducted.
There were no suspicious circumstances and a coronial report is being prepared.
