FOLLOWING on from last week’s dramatic dumping of Labor leader Julia Gillard, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced his reshuffled ministry which contains new Environment and Fisheries ministers.
Replacing Tony Burke in the Environment, Heritage and Water portfolio is Mark Butler. Burke now takes over as the Minister for Immigration, Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship
and Minister for the Arts.
Following Joe Ludwig’s resignation, Joel Fitzgibbon becomes the new federal Fisheries Minister.
Following these developments, a spokesman for peak rec fishing representative body Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF) and advocate group Keep Australia Fishing told Fisho the groups will be lobbying the new ministers in the near future on issues directly affecting Australia’s 5 million anglers, such as marine parks.
