THE Secret Women’s Business Barra Challenge, fondly referred to as SWB, is an all women fishing tournament held annually at the picturesque Corroboree Billabong, Northern Territory.
Coming into its 7th year of competition, SWB is an invitational nationally recognised tournament that has attracted over 100 competitors and boasts interstate competitors and sponsors. This year’s tournament is being held on 4th and 5th October and promises to be full of fun and surprises. It is a team event and two to four women can make up a team.
Event co-ordinator Chrissie Hurren says the SWB Barra Challenge is “a wonderful opportunity for like minded women to come together, have a great time, do some fishing and form lasting friendships.”
Barramundi, saratoga and tarpon all score points in the Challenge with the revered barra, of course, scoring competitors the most points. The SWB Barra Challenge is a catch and release tournament and has just received a 4.5 star Neatfish accreditation for this year’s event. The organisers are committed to preserving the environment and have been working very closely with NT Fisheries. As a result this year’s tournament will see all barramundi caught tagged prior to release.
