A RECENT initiative by the NSW Recreational Fishing Alliance is relying on smartphone technology to spread the safe angling message.
Thanks to QR code technology anglers can assess safe fishing conditions and receive safety alerts via their mobile phones. The RFA of NSW has released a series of bumper stickers that use QR codes to provide handy info on weather alerts, rock and boat fishing conditions and the use of PFDs. It is hoped the stickers will be spread amongst rec fishers and be seen on vehicles etc. at prominent fishing locations such as boat ramps and near popular fishing ledges.
