ROUND 7 of the Southern Bream Series (SBS) run by the Basin Lure and Fly Anglers Inc was held yesterday on St Georges Basin. The event was sponsored by Skeeter Boats/Power Pole.
This was a fantastic turnout of both Boating Teams and Kayaks, with 60 Boating Teams entered and 47 Kayak Anglers involved. As this is the last round for the 2015 Series, and with the Grand Final to be held in October, we would like to say a big thank you to all those that competed and showed their continued support for this great series.
The Basin really turned on a great day with lovely weather and some good fish with 26 boating teams and 11 kayakers managing to present a full bag of fish.
The final winner in the Boating section was Team 4BRIMIN_2 with Brad Williams & Matt Owen with a 5/5 bag totalling 3.920kg. They took home $2,34. Second place went to the ever consistent Team Stealth Blades with Peter Cook & Phil Cook (who also took out the AOY award) with a 5/5 bag totalling 3.510kg and taking home $1,170. Third went to Team STRYKR with Doug Phayer & Peter Stephens with a 5/5 bag totalling 3.430kg. They took home $585. Fourth went to Team Bream Attack with Geoff Borg & Nicholas Borg (this being Nicholas’s first Tournament) with a 5/5 bag totalling 3.280kg taking home $351. Finally, fifth went to Team Flats Raiders with Peter Dent & Nathan Thornthwait with a 5/5 bag totally 3.260kg. They took home $234.
In the boating section there where a total of 172 fish for a combined weight of 99.130kg for 120 anglers.
The Austackle Big Bream prize was won by another consistent competitor, Steve Nedeski presenting a great fish weighing 1.520kg, which happens be the biggest bream for the series leading into the Grand Final.
The Kayak section was won by the ever popular Team 13 Fishing/Searing Tackle – Simon Morley with a bag of 3/3 totalling 2.050kg taking home $1,176. Second went to Team Black Diamond – Kane Terry with a bag of 3/3 totalling 1.860kg and taking home $599. Third went to Team Ten20 Rods/Pontoon 21 – Jason Lambert with a bag of 3/3 totalling 1.780kg, taking home $363.
In the Kayak section there where a total of 48 fish for a combined weight of 24.790kg for 47 anglers.
The Austackle Big Bream prize was taken out by Luke Kay with a 1.130kg fish.
