Tasmanian Recreational Fishing Forums

THESE events are a great opportunity to dive into the world of recreational fishing in Tasmania. Come talk to the people behind the organisations about what matters to you when it comes to fishing.

There’ll be talks on a range of topics like the path to sand flathead recovery, diving and boating safety and the latest news from freshwater fisheries, with dedicated time for questions and discussion.

There’s also fishing tips to help improve your next day out on the water, like the best ways to fish Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) and innovative techniques for targeting species like Australian salmon and yellowtail kingfish.

Forums are running in Hobart and Launceston:

Hobart – Wed Nov 27, 6-8pm

Launceston – Wed Dec 4, 6-8pm

Book at fishing.tas.gov.au/events

Fisheries Tasmania (NRE Tas), Inland Fisheries Service (IFS), the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) and the Department of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine team from the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) will all be there.

Nibbles will be provided and we’ll have the fishing simulators running, so bring a mate and join us to be ready to take on a new season of fishing!

This event is free and walk-ins are welcome, but you can book a ticket via Eventbrite to secure your seat and help us with numbers for catering.
