The 2017 North Coast Fishing Bonanza set to sizzle

A massive $80,000 worth of prizes is up for grabs at the 2017 North Coast Fishing Bonanza.

THE 2017 North Coast Fishing Bonanza presented by Gamakatsu and Evinrude is on again, from September 28 through to October 2. This is prime time for school holidays, and over the long weekend, so you don’t have to take much time off to fish!

If you’re looking for something to get the kids involved in, look no further. The format involves 4 days of fishing starting on the Thursday night and finishing Monday. Last year’s event saw over 350 competitors chasing a wide variety of inshore and offshore species from boat and land, and taking home a share in a massive $80,000 in giveaways and prizes.

This year, Adults compete in a variety of species categories including snapper, pearl perch, mulloway, tailor, cobia, amberjack, whiting, bream, blackfish, mangrove jack, flathead and bass – plus the all new category, teraglin.

For Cadets, there is a range of offshore and inshore species including snapper and mulloway, bream and flathead to target, while Juniors can fish for the usual estuary suspects, flathead and bream, as well as whiting and bass.

There are a host of prizes on offer with a total prize pool over $80,000 up for grabs again. All Adult competitors have the chance to win a Quintrex boat/motor trailer package sponsored by Evinrude ETEC, plus Lowrance sounders and other prizes include Hobie kayaks. Cadets have a Hobie kayak up for grabs, as well as electrical products, bicycles and fishing gear.

At the show site on the banks of the Richmond River, daily talks should attract plenty of interest with some enthusiastic youngsters sure to be involved in the soft plastics and kids fishing demonstrations.

This year there will be a host of winners receiving sponsors’ products from Frogleys Offshore, Wilsons Fishing, Samurai Rods, Atomic, Shimano and the Ice Box Bloke just to name a few.
