Trout fin clippers wanted

TROUT anglers are again invited to attend fin clipping at Gaden Hatchery, Jindabyne in January 2013. The dates are Monday the 14th January to Friday the 18th January 2013.

Last year a large contingent of volunteers were able to clip all 50,000 juvenile rainbows in the week. NSW Department of Primary Industries is hoping to have some new technology (Coded Wire Tags) to speed up the process and improve detection of marked fish, but funding for the new system has yet to be finalised.

Morning/afternoon tea will be provided as will a BBQ lunch each day.

Volunteers can clip for a few hours, two days, four days or anything in between. Last year most volunteers clipped Tuesday, Wednesday with a smaller group on Thursday. Clipping starts on Monday afternoon after lunch.
