THE highly anticipated Dave Irvine Memorial Snapper Classic is once again being held in Coffs Harbour over the June long weekend.
The annual lure only catch, photograph & release snapper fishing competition is held each year in honour of Dave Irvine, a strong advocate for catch & release fishing and the designer of the Brag Mat and Environet. Since its inception the Dave Irvine Memorial Snapper Classic has grown to become one of the premium snapper comps on the east coast.
The event is open to both kayaks and boat based teams, and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. As well as a fishing competition with great prizes up for grabs, it’s also a great excuse for a large group of like minded anglers to get together in a friendly fun environment and experience fishing in one of the most prolific snapper locations in NSW.
This year’s DIMSC has once again been boosted by the generosity of its valued sponsors with total sponsorship for the event being over $72,000 with over $60,000 worth of give away prizes. The list of event sponsors include:
- Shimano
- Evinrude E-TEC
- Lowrance
- Mako Sunglasses
- Hobie Kayaks
- Coffs Harbour Marine
- Camera House
- Fishing Tackle Australia
- Big Fish tournament shirts
- Gamakatsu
- Fishing World Magazine
This year’s major lucky door give away is a Savage Big Daddy 415 tinny and trailer package powered by a 25hp Evinrude ETEC.
The first 200 entries receive the Dave Irvine Snapper Classic Tournament shirt & boat bags full of goodies. On the Sunday there will be plenty of lucky door prizes, and after the official presentations a carvery roast will be supplied at the Deep Sea Fishing club for all competitors.
