THIS video from Fisheries NSW was shot during sampling at the proposed site for the Shoalhaven offshore artificial reef on the NSW south coast.
Using pilchard-baited underwater cameras, a large octopus was filmed as it is attracted to the bait. Unfortunately for a banjo ray that has also been lured in, a big scuffle breaks out when it is attacked by the larger occy!
Please note – if you look carefully you can see that the ray swiftly escapes the scuffle towards the end of the clip. Part 2 coming soon – what the crafty octopus does next…!
