THIS awesome video captures some hot yellowfin action off Sydney last week with gun angler, Shimano’s Chris Cleaver.
Hear what Chris had to say about the day…
It was a magic glassed out Sunday of Sydney, we headed to 500 fathoms in my 17ft centre console and made the plan to troll South East toward 600 fathoms were the current charts showed a temp break the night before.
Just as we hit the 600 fathom line wide of the southern canyons south of Sydney’s infamous browns mountain the water became alive with Tuna. Tak Hatakana was first on the rod being a tuna virgin and he didn’t have to wait long before the super long shot gun Squidgy bluewater livie was eaten. We all ended up scoring our PB yellowfin that day with four fish landed over 40 kg by lunch. We headed home elated across a glass calm ocean alive with Tuna.
Check out an upcoming issue of Fisho for a full length feature on Sydney’s amazing spring time run of tuna.
