THE International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) has recently recognised the capture of a monster PNG black bass (Papuan Black Snapper) by angler Jason Yip as the All Tackle World Record.
Fishing the Kumimaipa River in PNG on July 30, 2012, Yip hooked into a monster of a Papuan black snapper (Lutjanus goldiel) that tipped the scales at 20.87kg (46lb).
Yip’s All-Tackle World Record ate a Rapala Super Shad Rap (BSH Blue Shiner) and fought for 10 minutes before it was landed.
After taking the necessary photos and measurements, Yip released the fish alive to grow even bigger. This bass shatters the existing record landed by Len Bradica of 42 lb 5 oz caught in 1992.
Via facebook, Jason Yip said: “Almost all our clients that come and visit us use Rapala brand lures! We tell them they are the best lures for PNG Black Bass especially the Super Shad Rap.”
