WILL Lee has taken out the latest round of the Daiwa-Hobie Kayak BREAM Series, held on Queensland’s Moreton Bay. Lee took the win in the Redcliffe Worlds round after compiling a 5/6, 3.57 kg limit to claim an impressive come from behind win.
Charging through from 12th on the final day to secure the win, Lee ran down a talented field including event runner up Grayson Fong (6/6, 3.32kg) and current AOY champion Richard Somerton.
After a disappointing day one Lee went back to the drawing board for day two and changed tack to go in search of bigger reef dwelling bream. His plan paid off and delivered him the heaviest limit for the tournament (3/3, 2.12 kg) and in turn the event victory.
The win booked Lee a spot in the Hobie Worlds at Bemm River in November and a berth in the Hobie Kayak Grand Final at Marlo two days later.
Grayson Fong showed why he is regarded as one of the most consistent anglers on the northern bay catching a 6/6, 3.32 kg limit to secure a top two finish.
