103kg southern bluefin tuna from 3.9m tinny!

A PAIR of intrepid Victorian anglers this week scored the catch of a lifetime by landing a 103.6kg southern bluefin tuna from a 3.9m tinny powered by a 25hp outboard.

Jayden Campbell and Jason Trickey caught the massive tuna in 60m of water out from Portland.

The tuna was landed on 24kg line fished on a Shimano TLD 30. It ate a trolled Richter Oscar Junior skirt and took 1.5 hours to get to the boat.

Portland has been experiencing an unprecedented run of big tuna in recent weeks, with many anglers catching numerous “barrels”.

But this is the first time Fisho has heard of such a big tuna being caught out of such a small boat.

Well done, Jayden and Jason – a true catch of a lifetime!
