ICONIC Australian tackle company, Alvey Reels Australia, has been sold to Gowings Bros Ltd and will continue to operate.
Alvey originally announced its closure in May 2022 after new ownership and several years of poor sales forced the 102 year company to close its doors.
In a Facebook announcement today, Alvey announced its new owners.
“Gowings is extremely proud and honoured to be able to keep Alvey Reels in Australia,” said managing director John Gowing.
Gowings also owns FCS, an iconic surf brand, which Gowings sees as “real symmetry between the two brands centred around the ocean”.
