THE Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF) held a forum in Canberra on Wednesday to discuss its future funding model.
The Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF) was formed in 2012 to act as the peak national body and a voice for Australia’s recreational fishing community. It’s a not for profit organisation.
Presently, support comes through various channels including tackle industry funding.
Members of the various state peak bodies, government departments and partner associations of ARFF attended the forum where several ideas were discussed.
While a future funding model hasn’t been devised, all in attendance agreed ARFF shouldn’t remain reliant to any one stream of support. The question of government funding was also brought into question in regard to the association’s independence.
In a first for ARFF, the forum held a live Q&A Facebook discussion where members of the fishing community could ask questions about the forum and future of the association’s funding.
