Hunt warns AFMA over dolphin deaths

FEDERAL Environment Minister Greg Hunt has today written to the CEO of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, Dr James Findlay, to express the Government’s concern over the deaths of four more dolphins by the freezer trawler the Geelong Star.

Fisho understands the trawler’s future is in doubt if further marine mammal deaths occur.

Senator Richard Colbeck, a strong advocate of super trawlers, is facing strong criticism for his support and endorsement of the Geelong Star.
