IkiJime Tool is an innovative fishing app (published in both Google Play and the App Store) that helps fishers dispatch their fish quickly and humanely using the ikijime method.
Ikijime is a method of brain destruction scientifically proven to minimise stress for the fish while also maximising its eating qualities. The app was originally developed back in 2013 by Fishing World’s own Dr Ben Diggles to provide convenient “network free” access to x-ray overlay photos of the brain location of key fish species captured by anglers in Australia.
In the years since, the database has grown to over 200 species of fish and sharks targeted by anglers worldwide.

The latest versions of this app are the most comprehensive updates yet in its 13 year lifetime, with completely updated back end code resulting in an optimised search function with speedier lookups of the restructured database.
Ikijime Tool will work anywhere without phone or internet coverage, provided the user downloads and syncs the app while online, thus ensuring the entire database is instantly available at your fingertips wherever you are on earth. Initial download is free, with users being prompted to purchase the app for a nominal fee after 10 database searches. Users who already had previous paid versions of Ikijime Tool are able upgrade to the new app without cost.
Many thanks to the Ocean Health Foundation for their generous funding of this upgrade.
