A KEEN angler from Kyneton, Victoria, has taken drone fishing to new heights while fishing from his airborne, VB armed, lawn chair.
In the video, Sam Foreman, catches a fish in Upper Coliban Reservoir while being supported in mid-air by a drone flying above him. Reportedly, the drone cost approximately $20,000 and uses 12 motors, 25 batteries and 27″ propellers to take flight.
Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) spokesman Peter Gibson said a large homemade drone being used to lift someone off the ground is a first for Australia.
“It’s really not a sensible thing to do in any way, shape or form; there’s lots of things that could have gone wrong, someone could have been seriously injured,” Gibson said in a statment.
CASA has announced the matter is being investigated.
