Native fish on Hughes Creek, a tributary of the Goulburn River in Victoria, have had a win thanks to recreational anglers.
Funds from Victorian Recreational Fishing Licences have been used to install 12 complex log jams and 167 boulders to a 2.5 km section of the creek. This instream habitat project was recently completed by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
This habitat improvement work will increase connectivity for important native fish species such as golden perch and the endangered Macquarie perch.
