SHORE based casting, live bait or trolling, it makes no difference to Penn’s Squall Star Drag. Squall’s features include a black with gold accents, lightweight graphite frame and aluminum spool. The patented Versa-Drag system allows for multiple settings with the star adjustment and the HT-100 drag washers are smooth and, according to Penn, won’t overheat under heavy loads.
The magnetic brakes are externally adjustable on the side plate in the SQL12 and SQL15 casting models. The machined and anodised aluminum spool is marked with line capacity rings and is knurled to hold line from spinning.
Other features include a Live Spindle with free floating spool (Sizes 12 and 15), high speed 6.0:1 gear ratio, marine grade bronze alloy main gear, stainless steel pinion gear, six shielded stainless steel ball bearings plus IAR bearing, stainless steel reel stand and a counter-balanced handle with oversized paddle knob.
