JOSH Batterson landed this whopping swordfish, estimated between 180-200kg, on Tuesday after an epic six hour battle.

Josh was fishing with Fishing World writer Chris Cleaver and Sydney fisho, Ryan Camlin. The fellas hooked the fish at about 2pm and fought it into the night, landing the sword at about 8pm.

After a unsuccessful trip a few weeks back and an earlier missed bite, the fellas hooked the sword 10 minutes into a drift. Unsure if it was a sword, Chris told Fisho: “when it surfaced and shook its head, we all went wild!”

The fish was brought boat-side after about four hours, but was too green to safely control. After another couple of hours the decision was made to bring the fish onboard.

Fishing from Chris’s new 208 Edgewater, the fish was caught using a prototype Shimano sword rod and Tyrnos 50 LRS. The line was 37kg topshoted over 100lb Power Pro.

Chris said the fish was swiflty processed, kept fresh and put to good use.

Awesome capture and well deserved!
