A COUPLE of northern NSW fishermen recently had a close encounter with a 5m great white shark while fishing just south of the Gold Coast.
According to Channel Nine News, mates Daniel Fleming and James Tait were fishing kilometres offshore when the large shark started circling their boat.
The pair managed to pat the great white but eventually had to slap it on the head to deter it when it started to aggressively bite the boat’s transducer and bait board.
