COMPETITORS fishing the Central Coast Game Fishing Club Bluewater Classic over the weekend reported good numbers of striped and blue marlin.

Conditions were perfect and good quality water up to 25.5C was found out over the shelf that turned on some good fishing.

Bait was very hard to come by which meant that most teams were using lures and most were having no trouble raising a couple of fish each day, however staying connected to the fish proved more difficult.

The competition was very tight and three billfish was enough to take out the tag and release competition for both big and small boats.

The Fishing World team competed alongside Team Garmin for the tournament and managed to hook four marlin over the two days.

Unfortunately, we had the same issues with fish throwing the hooks as everyone else and only managed to get a tag in one fish.

The water quality seemed to continually improve over the weekend and reports were filtering through over the radio on Sunday afternoon of a good bite further south off Sydney.

The full list of results from the weekend can be found here.
