RECREATIONAL fishos in Queensland have taken to the streets over the weekend protesting about proposed changes to possession limits in the state.
Rec fishos have accused government bureaucrats of an agenda-driven reform, which they say will unfairly change the way they fish.
While bag and size limit regulations are widely accepted, the idea of an “all species” possession limit has been strongly argued against. The calls for a suggested possession limit has been labelled “unscientific” and fishos have suggested such a rule could badly affect local tourism and rec fishing businesses.
While no decision has been made, fishos have pre-empted any changes with a strong response across social media and during the weekend’s protest.
