Samaki Vibelicious 85mm soft vibe review

THE recent release of the Samaki Vibelicious 85mm Fork Tail coincided with a run of perfect weather and fishing conditions for Mark “Wilbur” Williams to field test the new soft vibe lures for Fisho.

Expectations were high for the new 85mm Fork Tail to fill a niche in the extensive Samaki Vibelicious range and it didn’t fail to disappoint. My home waters of Lake Macquarie are one of the epicentres of the soft vibe boom that has swept the country in recent years and proved the ideal testing ground for these new lures. It only took two sessions to land a number of jewfish, dusky flathead, bream and tailor on these versatile lures and establish that this model is destined to be the great all-rounder in the Vibelicious family.

The Samaki Vibelicious 85mm Fork Tail weighs in at 14 grams which provides great casting range and allowed me to fish the bait in water depths in excess of 10 metres in good weather conditions. One of the great advantages Samaki soft vibes have over other brands is their seductive sink rate which resulted in me hooking a number of jewfish on the drop. Once the lures are on the bottom – in flathead central – the fish attracting vibrations emitted by these lures are produced with even the slowest of lifts.

These durable lures are constructed from “10X Super Stretch” material and come fitted with quality stainless steel split rings and BKK trebles that feature a new anti-rust coating. Hook selection is critical on such a versatile lure and I had no trouble with bream hook ups as these trebles are super sharp, yet still strong enough to handle the stresses imposed by multiple mulloway battles in a session.

The Samaki Vibelicious 85mm Fork Tail comes in a range of 30 colours, many of which feature super realistic finishes. New additions for this year include Fairy Floss, Turbo Mullet, Ghost Bait, Hardy Head, Stripey Snapper and Coral Trout. The Samaki Vibelicious 85mm Fork Tail is going to be a hit with both saltwater and freshwater lure fishers.
